Write Start

April 24, 2015

When you write all day for a living, it can be hard to find the motivation to write outside of work for yourself. I stumbled across this competition that aimed to get the ball rolling for writers like myself. Just get the story started. In 75 words or less, the competition challenged writers to tell a story full of intrigue and leaving the reader craving more. I gave it a crack and was lucky enough to come out as the winner. My entry was published on a couple different websites, but more importantly - the contest got my creative juices flowing on outside projects.

Story:

Mark Stanley was dead. Not forever, mind you. Just for the night. Tomorrow morning, he’d wake again at precisely 6:45 a.m. He’d put on his beige suit, get in his beige car, drive to his beige job and live his beige life. He’d avoid eye contact and conversation, as he typically does. But for tonight, that Mark Stanley was dead. Tonight at Mary’s Club, he’d step on stage and leave his corpse at the door.

Turns out every now and then I have thoughts about things that can't be contained in 30 second advertisements. This is where the ones that can't get me arrested are recorded.
